“CEO Fraud” is a scam in which cybercriminals spoof company email accounts and impersonate executives to try and fool an employee in accounting or HR into executing unauthorized wire transfers, or sending out confidential tax information. Earlier today, we learned that bank and credit union customers in the area have been receiving phishing text messages. These messages cite issues such as your debit card is locked or has been placed on a “blocked list” and directs the recipient to call a number in the text or respond to the text. When the number is called or there is a response to the text, there is ultimately a request for the full debit card number.
